Baffle Plates

《Problems that occur during stirring》

• Solids in liquid precipitate
• Inability to mix uniformly
• Not evenly distributed
• Temperature varies depending on the location of the tank
• Vortices are generated when the rotation speed is increased
• Foaming, air entrapment, and liquid splashing occur

[All such problem can be solved with a baffle plate!]

This component increases mixing efficiency by allowing the liquid to flow up and down the stream, making it easier to mix. It is generally made of the same material as the tank and has the same surface finish.

In addition to buffing and pickling, other finishing methods such as electrolytic polishing and coating are also available.

The shape of the baffle plate and the installation method are selected based on the tank shape, liquid characteristics, and mixing purpose.

  • By obstructing the flow of the liquid being stirred, turbulence (upstream and downstream) is generated, and the stirring efficiency is improved.
  • It is effective in preventing and mixing solids in liquids, and for equalizing temperature and concentration.
  • Suppresses the generation of vortexes that cause foaming.
  • Turbulence can be caused by eccentrically mounting the agitator, but eccentricity places a load on the shaft. By installing a stirrer in the center of the tank and attaching a baffle plate, turbulence can be achieved without load.

Baffle Plate Shape

Flat Plate Shape L-Shaped Shape Cylindrical Shape
Orthodox specifications

Simple plate shape that blocks the flow of liquid the most.

Strong L-shape

Effective for high-speed rotation, high-viscosity liquids, long baffles, etc.

Reduced resistance of liquids

The effect of applying to the flow is reduced, but the retention of liquids and solids can be reduced.

How to install

(1) Tank welding type
It is designed to weld to the inner wall of the tank, and two or more baffle plates are attached.
Due to welding, the mounting strength is high, and it can be used for stirring of high-viscosity liquids and high rotational speeds.
It is the most orthodox mounting method that is also suitable for installation in large tanks.

(2) Detachable Tank

Weld the bracket to the inner wall of the tank and attach the baffle plate to the bracket.
The method of fastening to the bracket mainly uses bolts.
It is effective when cleaning or when you want to remove the baffle plate during the process.

(3) Detachable Lid

Install a baffle plate in the port of the lid (sanitary ferrule) and secure it with a clamping band.
It can be removed from the lid for easy cleaning.
It is a convenient mounting method that allows the port to be used for other purposes when not stirring.

Custom-Made Examples

  • Detachable ring integrated baffle plate

It is a specification in which the plate ring and the baffle plate are welded together into one piece.
A single mounting part simplifies the work.
It is also possible to change to a baffle plate with different specifications depending on the process, and it is also possible to use the tank without a baffle.
